Bella Italia is one of those special establishments that manage to stay humble while simultaneously oozing with class. The aged dining room and bar are lovingly accented with slightly outdated décor confirming that all pretension is left at the door. This is an uncommon feat at establishments with such elegant cuisine as this. Game dishes are deservedly the highlights of the menu. The buffalo steak, cooked to a tender medium rare, melts easily with every last bite. The salmon too, is so tender it simply glides into a surrounding Pernod sauce with the mere brush of a fork. And if lasagna-done-well is the true testament of Italian cuisine, this hits the nail on the head. It’s a perfectly baked concoction of bubbling ricotta and al dente noodles.
